Wouldn’t it be great if there would be a warning system informing you about construction zones or road blocking early enough to sidestep preventing road accidents and disasters?
A solution could be provided by a smart road blocking warning system implemented in the barriers of the road construction zone and sending a warning signal to a Smartphone App or Navigation System or – in accident cases also to reflector posts activating a flashing signal to warn approaching car drivers. Early detection of collisions can help save lives. Additionally, IoT road sensors collect the data on road conditions on real time and send recommended safe driving routes to the road users.
What is the benefit of doing this with NarrowBand-IoT (NB-IoT)? The main benefits are low device and maintenance costs as well as an extended coverage, enabling the installation of a cost-efficient warning system in both cities and rural areas.
NB-IoT warning systems on road works or accidents are still future visions, but might help some day to increase travel comfort.
